The Biosen series of analyzers include two different models, Biosen C-Line Clinic and Biosen C-Line GP+, and are a familiar brand name in laboratories, sports medicine, science, and diabetes clinics.
Biosen analyzers can be manufactured as single-channel glucose systems or as dual-channel systems that can measure lactate at the same time.
Biosen uses a special chip sensor technology to deliver fast measurements with a high degree of accuracy at a low cost per test. Due to the long life of the sensor chip the system requires little maintenance, and features such as the color touch screen and large memory only add to the Biosen analyzer’s user-friendliness.
All Biosen analyzers are supplied with an RS252C, USB and encrypted ethernet interface to connect to hospital or lab information systems (LIS) and middle ware such as EKF Link. An integrated barcode reader comes as standard with the Biosen C-Line Clinic, and printer connectivity via RS232C or by utilizing EKF Link and EKF Link Lite is possible with both models.
Biosen can test whole blood, plasma or serum to provide glucose and lactate values with excellent precision (less than 3% CV) over a wide measurement range.
EKF Link is a middleware solution for healthcare providers to manage their point-of-care analyzers and the generated data on one centralized platform.
EKF Link is a flexible, open solution that can be interfaced to most vendor’s point-of-care analyzer to permit the real-time management of data including patient test results, QC results, operator management and analyser configuration.
EKF Link is an optional software platform designed to provide a flexible and secure method for connecting point-of-care devices to hospital and laboratory IT systems, enabling the transfer of data from the analyzer to the hospital or laboratory database for subsequent processing.
There are two different Biosen C-Line models. Each has been designed for different scenarios. The Biosen C-Line range consists of the Clinic and GP+.
The range can be ordered as either one or two channel systems for measurements of either glucose or lactate, or both
Biosen C-Line measures glucose and/or lactate levels in whole blood, plasma and serum.
A 10 μl or 20 μl sample is required for one test, depending on the used type of the pre-filled Glucose/Lactate Hemolyzing Soution.
The cycle time from test to test depends on the concentration in the sample. The test result is displayed after about 20 seconds followed by a flush sequence to clear the sensor signal prior to the next measurement. Depending on the Biosen C-Line model and the sample characteristics a maximum through-put of 120 tests per hour can be achieved.
Enzymatic-amperometric using chip sensor technology.
The shelf-life of the Sensor on the device is 60 days or 7500 tests for Glucose and 50 days or 6000 tests for lactate.
Yes. Up to 2,000 sets of results together with date, time, position and tray number can be stored in the device’s memory.
Yes. All Biosen C-Line devices have PC and network connectvity via RS232C, USB and encyrpted Ethernet interfaces and Printer connectivity via RS232C interface. They are also compatible with middleware such as EKF Link for transfering of data from the device to the LIS/LIMS of the medical facility or laboratory. It is also possible to use EKF Link Lite for printing out results on a network printer when connected to a PC and using EKF Link Lite.
There are two different Biosen C-Line models. Each has been designed for different scenarios. The Biosen C-Line range consists of the Clinic and GP+. The Clinic has been developed for use in sport facilities, clinics or laboratories that have moderate demand for sample testing. Where as the GP+ is designed for small clinics and surgeries with small demands on sample testing and likely to be used as a POCT device.
Yes. The calibration is performed automatically by the Biosen C-Line analyser. The operator can choose from three different calibration modes: ‘before measurement’, ‘periodic’ or ‘time account’. EKF Diagnostics provides a standard solution to calibrate the system for glucose and lactate testing.
Normal and pathological controls are available:
The device should be subject to regular maintenance. We recommend that the exchanger and pump tube are replaced every six months and that the sample cannula is replaced annually. These steps are described in detail in the instruction guide and can be performed by users.
Yes. Biosen C-Line comes with a warranty of one year from the date of shipping. Expected lifetime of the device is 5 years.
