Liverpool FC players put to the lactate test

20/07/2021

Once again Liverpool Football Club’s players have been welcomed back to their pre-season training camp with the dreaded lactate threshold test.

The test, which uses an EKF Diagnostics’ Biosen analyser, was introduced by manager Jürgen Klopp immediately after his appointment in 2015. It is used to gauge the intensity at which a player can train or compete before they reach their lactate threshold. The higher a player’s lactate threshold, the harder they can train. This is a vital metric in Klopp’s preferred playing style which uses the ‘high-press’ to win the ball back from opponents as far up the pitch as possible.

EKF Diagnostics and our UK distributor, HaB, are delighted to continue their relationship with Liverpool Football Club and wish them well in the coming season.
